Sic Bo, also known as Tai Sai or Dai Siu, is an ancient but still very popular Chinese casino game. The literal meaning of Sic Bo is "precious dice", while Dai Siu and Dai Sai mean "big [or] small". The game uses three dice and a table with a variety of betting options on the roll of those dice.
The game can be traced back for hundreds, if not thousands of years and is said to have been played with bricks instead of dice in the very beginning. These bricks were painted with symbols, shuffled around in bowls and then thrown on the ground to reveal combinations of those symbols. Players were then awarded for guessing the right symbols. Over time, the bricks were changed for dice and Sic Bo made its way across the world and onto the internet, where today it is one of the most popular games around.
How to Play Sic Bo
This game is played with 3 dice which are all kept inside a dome. The dice will be shaken by the dealer after all bets have been accepted. All a player has to do is to predict the outcome of the game. Should the outcome be ambiguous, e.g. none of the faces of the dice are properly facing up or dice overlap, then the ambiguous game result will be declared void and dice will be rolled again. The Occurrence of a Triple (all three dice showing the same number) beats all bets on Big / Small and Even / Odd.
Bet Type
Small: Wins on total of 4-10, except for a three of a kind.
Big: Wins on total of 11-17, except for a three of a kind.
Odd: Wins on any odd total, except loses with any three of a kind.
Even: Wins on any even total, except loses with any three of a kind.
Double: Bet on any specific pair (for example two 1's). Player wins if at least 2 of the number chosen appears.
Triple: Player may bet on any specific trips (for example three 1's). Player wins if all 3 dice match the number chosen.
Any Triple: Wins on any three of a kind.
Any One Number: Bet on any specific number from 1 to 6. If chosen number appears 1 time bet pays 1 to 1, if it appears 2 times bet pays 2 to 1, and if it appears 3 times it pays 3 to 1.
2 Dice Combination: Bet on 2 combination numbers from 1 to 6. Three dice must be the two numbers selected.
